Rewrite:

Shadows

I watched my shadow stretch the ground
In motions that were just like mine
Awake with me without a sound
And mirror me like pantomime.

It seemed to move like puppetry
Fathered by the sun, a clone.
In lesser light in mimicry
Mothered by an objects loan.

No feel of pain, pleasure or strife
Without our blood tissue and bone
Reborn each light into new life
Brought into this world full grown.

Made of shifting mediums sprawl
Chameleon like abilities
Transparent and in constant fall
With hide and seek alacrity.

An ever dark and brooding base
Light induced, but never a face.

To some a shadow may just be
life gone black of light for thee
but in your dark, still a shine
for there the reach, and the wind...

Bill,
Thanks for the excellent and more.

JM,
Some day I'll catch you on the breeze
My little Tinker Bell and tease.
Randy's blowing smoke again
And keeps asking where and when?

Beautiful abstract, Winkiewinkie Stinky

Decaflame,
True the Shadow may show the wind but does not feel it. Thanks

yes, good writing is always a pleasure to read...well done!

RSWells---that sounds like a poem coming, I hope you do one...I'm wondering if I can keep from it...let's see...the night the shadows slept...or the day, that might be more frightening if that's what one has a mind to do...sounds like something that should be put in the poetry challenge

I enjoyed this one a lot, Sy -- very well written.  I can picture Tim Burton running with this one...  maybe "A Nightmare Before Christmas-II" with a macabre yet seductive score by Elfman...?

once when I walked calm in flight
I wondered if shadows entered in night
for I saw shadows in light of day
sometimes followed, or led the way...
