Love Ain't No Longer THere

Cathy Mae acts a new way now she's actin bold.
She'd lie to know that young guy even though she's old.
It's hard to swallow life prints when shaping time begins.
Her mother's holy adivce said she'd always get her man.

Chorus:
She has no time fears
but what is waiting for her
never thought she'd be alone
her bridges all burned.
Love ain't no longer there.
Love ain't no greying hair.
Love ain't no wrinkled glare.
Love ain't no drunked up stare.

There's comin up a party if the young man does respond.
He'd like to take her out of there and fake her lovin on.
He's been waitin for the prime time now he's mocking her.
He'd like to leave her on her own after she's disturbed.

She has those fine years
but what is waiting for her
never thought she'd be outdone
with issues to learn.
Love ain't no longer there.
Love ain't no make-up flare.
Love ain't no dressed up prayer.
Love ain't past season's bared.

She must decide what it is that needs her concern.
Who's gonna carry her through the waste that she'll earn?
Will she know when to stop and see herself once more?
Or will she keep on swaying across the bar room floors.?

She has those wine tears
but what is it she will learn
Never thought she'd be alone
four walls surroundin her.
Love ain't no longer there,
Love ain't no fancy fare,
Love ain't no daydream prayers,
Love ain't one night affairs.

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

You're very near to making me reconsider that twang...it does communicate so much.

You ROCK when you rhyme
Country or blues....you make music with every verse
and there are some deep lines of wisdom in this melodic bittersweet beauty...
another gem from your harmony pen E-babers
I love the chorus and the change ups of words but kept the rhyme
anybody ever tell ya your Vantastic LOL

I don't think I shall ever be without love...for we have to love ourselves first before we can love others, and I shall always have me...

Excellent words, Ethome, I hear the music!

Being part "red neck" I can here the steel guitar in the background...if only Conway was still around to sing it.

A sad song
sings to tears
and forsaken years

ethome,

It really gave me a vivid image. Guitar in hand at the mic singing it out at the local watering hold.
