An Uneasy Silence Fills the Room |

An uneasy silence fills the room! Where is all the usual noise of nervous small talk of the shuffle of feet or a little giggle at an unfunny joke or the sound of heavy breathing coming from the lovers entwined on the couch? I thought this was a party! Did I not get an invitation? Was I not promised an atmosphere of levity and bottled spirits to help break the ice and really get things going? I know this ain't the wrong address! But instead all I find is the erie silence of my thoughts screaming at me,with no volume at all in a vacated but once bustling apartment which used to be brimming of life and action and maybe was even too noisy to suit the neighbors but which felt audibly good anyway for at least then there was a sembelance of life something we could recognize and be involved in. Oh drat this sense of loss and loosing! Even if it was not so important nor outrageously meaningful even if it did not make of me a better person or make my head feel good the morning after-- At least, there was SOME feeling present at least I didn't have to imagine how it might have been-- for then it was and for what it was and made it's presence known Visually and Audibly and touched the senses and presented external stimuli something to react to or reason to initiate and resonate and instigate and celebrate---- But the evidence is sadly clear! Not now-- of the party that didn't happen Silence has screamed out, "It's Over!" Not to the ears, but the recesses of the heart striking deeper than a dagger moving me to solitarty sorrow. Do I even bother turning out the lights on my way out, into the unusally noisy street??????????????? |

I really dig the way your thoughts lay out, even after the first few lines I felt as if i've been in a similar frame of mind- alone amidst chaos. |

i said something similar in the feelings forum recently but you said it much better and clearer in verse... though my thoughts might have nothing to do with your poem... anyway...really powerfully spoken lines with lots of emotion here... very well done..... |

David: This speaks of loss very eloquently. Thanks for alerting me to come and read it. Betty Lou Hebert |

David; this so excellent! You have expressed so well the feelings and the atmosphere! Wonderful free verse as well, sad but true, change is always guarenteed! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

This is SO well written. I really like it. It expresses the emotion very very well If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |
