I was getting pretty sleepy
Nearly 2 AM and Iambe
Was still dancing with
A fellow who I didn't know
And who looked like
He thought everyone should

When they came in

Three of them
With their Saturday night
Cowboy look alike smiles
And bravado
From too many shots
Of encouragement
Paid for at the last bar
With wages earned
Rounding up numbers
Or pushing pencils
Instead of cows

It's really pretty easy to spot.
They are usually a bit more pale
And a whole lot smoother skinned
Than the real thing

Well smooth they were
Until they horned in on Iambe
Pestering her to dance

I saw the end coming,
So I picked up my hat
And went out to start the truck

It kicked over on the second try

About the same time the first
Of the smoothies came out the door
Gasping for air.

I let it idle and unlocked the door
Waiting for Iambe to finish
Her house cleaning

Welcome home, Iambe!  It's been awhile, and you've been sorely missed!

Captain....thanks for reviving the lady!

Perhaps the context is before my time here at PIP, regarding "Iambe", but RON!  What's this?  A poem with lots of words??? :-)  Ironically, I'm toying with the idea of trying some with less, just for a change of pace!  Enjoyed the visuals and wonder where this story leads...

Thanks Lady.. she's always around..just doesn't get out in public much

Mark.. long story about Iambe, but she is a figment of some other writer, who has been traded around from poet to poet..and her tale embellished on. She is an enigma and yet as simple as today... I have a whole series I have written on her...which some of which or maybe most I have posted. If you liked you can check in forum 14 for those postings...

Yeah I know.. again a lot of words.. I must be getting soft headed or something..( laughing)

By all means... do try your hand at minimalism.. the music isn't the same... but it can still have a tune... (smiling)

Did Iambe ever come home that night?  Did you leave without her?  Or has she gone on to another chapter?

Someone was asking...thought I'd pass it on!  {~,^}
