I Wonder Why It seems that youth has hastened by- I wonder why? How often maidens mourn and cry- I wonder why? No longer, Mothers, babies love- Nor wife and husband mate like doves No marriage stands the push and shove I wonder why? Now people panic over whales- I wonder why? Preserve the wildlife, fish and snails- I wonder why? While beggars in the gutters lie, And infants by the millions die- It almost makes me want to cry- I wonder why? Nobility it seems has flown- I wonder why? And honesty is also gone- I wonder why? If some of us don't take a stand We're going to lose this once great land- And groan beneath the con'quer's hand- I wonder why? I see the end approaching fast- And wonder why? Our brightest hour now is past- I wonder why? Like Henry pledged his very breath- And longed for liberty or death- Of patriots, so few are left- I wonder why? |

Gunslinger - very good write. I guess it is just one of life's lessons, to wonder why. Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

It is good to see your words again GS. I will have to add this to one of my own very favorites of yours "The Scholar". Your writing has always left me speechless, it is good to see your words indeed. *s* On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free. |
