Where Singers Go To Die I restrung my old guitar- Put on my western suit. Brushed and blocked my old felt hat, And polished up my boots. My friends had often told me, You really ought to try- So I started off for Music Row- Where singers go to die. I've banged on that old six-string For nearly thirty years. Worn a lot of callouses- And shed a lot of tears... I know some others made it, Old Hank sang, "Love Sick Blues". Carl Perkins hit the big time- When he cut his "Blue Suede Shoes". The Possum made his debut- When he sang of cheating love, I can almost hear him singing- "The Window Up Above". For every one that made it, A hundred had to try, And washed out up on Music Row, Where singers go to die. I started playing extras- In all them Nashville bars... With second rate, and out of date, And never-had-it stars. I hit town seven years ago- I've done forgotten why... Another notch for Music Row Where singers go to die. |

Some go and die while others are merely born.. This was so neat, thank you for posting it! Freedom is not Free (Korean War memorial) |

What a great read. You took me right along on the journey here. Sad story, but very melodic. I was nearly singing it (however, I'm not allowed to sing - the cat starts howling in pain ) If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Slinger~ Well ... at the rate those-who-made-it are going ... Music Row's gonna get mighty crowded. You always do these tales with such feeling. Thank you~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
