Isolation Blue

In a small town dark and distant
far from the home town girl
where broken hearts are jaded
there's a lonely service world
where the pen of love stopped flowing
with a promise turned away
and far away there's and old love to blame.

Chorus:
Secret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue

There's grey skies after sunshine
when the naked heartaches rain
and a soldier can get buried
with his life still in his veins
and the chapters of defeat
are written on Deadman's lane
and far away there's an old love to blame.

There was a distant fire an old desire
a deep eternal flame
but the weeping winds came calling
and cold eyes can't explain
that the hopeless road to freedom
is a rope that cheats the pain
and far away there's an old love to blame.

Secret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue.

This piece is meant to have a bluesy, folksey medium flowing jazzy
acoustic back beat.

There's that melody
slow coursing through
I can hear it crying
with the blues and you

You sang one of the songs of the ages. I hear a bluesy tune in here, and I see a sad lonely face peering over the top of that ol'shoe box....the same kind of box that later in life holds baby photos and IRS documents.

Yeah. There is always an old flame to blame when it comes to love.
Good read. I'd like to hear it put to music.
