Listening to every heart

What’s Your Story?

if one were to simply ask
what do you do? what’s your task?
would you hem and hah and say
why, I’m just sort of “every day”
the kind of folk that’s reserved?
or would you simply throw a curve?

are you an adman, or antique dealer?
aluminum-sider or palm reader?
architect designer of some sort?
or do you sail into far ports?
auto salesman of used cars?
or a salesman of the stars?

do you butcher our daily feed?
or bake bread to suit our needs?
do you take the young at heart
and give them all a brand new start?
perhaps you are a businessman
or inventor of some new plan…

could you be an engineer
or hang draperies so sheer
that moonlight with sunlight collides
or are you a mom that hides
to play a little seek with child
or are you simply meek and mild?

do you tell folk how to heal
or take old folks one good meal?
do you bend your knee to pray?
or just keep busy in your day?
do you walk the land and dirt?
does some sweat stick to your shirt?

do you climb the highest land
from mountainside, see things grand
from a plane to jump through sky
to hold a heart while it cries
have you held a child, though diseased
did you give some love, just to ease…

you might walk a mile today
or you might have sought to pray
you might have just given due
to all that has been handed you
but each of you have a story
and each of you, certain glory

do be sure to share some “you”
in all you say, and all you do…

A credit manager I be
Though to be honest, tween you and me
It really is a thankless job
Collecting money from some slobs
But the pay is good, the perks are great
Sometimes I get to stay out real late
At credit meetings with my pals
Who get to do this job as well

I work with women
Try to guide by example to freedom
From the noose from addictions abuse
Help to reunite with their chilren
after long months of rebuilding them
Sharing and showing them a new way
Thay can live and play in a drug free way
I recieve far more from them then thay will ever know
I love to go to work
and watch the womens spirit grow
