At first there was an open path beckoning a dark cool wood, musky earthen cypress thatch-- everything grew as it should. In the dark, surprise abounds-- I followed trickling of creek. I danced amid the moss surround and soft ground beneath my feet. Ferns grew at foot of ancient oak and willow near the water's feed... the frogs sang out in hearty croak-- they were not afraid of me. I had found my home at last. Palmetto's spread in Mother's fan. My spirit free, I found repast. I had found the Holy land. Even though cicada's sang, I lingered in this wood of bliss. Where one path ended--mine began-- the possibles would not desist. Every footfall begged for next although I knew the darkness loomed. Then the sun sank into text-- I thought: "I must be going soon." So in the dark I followed creek-- listening for landmark sounds. I followed instinct of my feet-- until the sand of path I found. I followed back unto wood's edge and there I plucked a victim leaf... I pressed it next to chest and thought: "There I keep your memory." (with thanx to Martie for inspiration) [This message has been edited by serenity (edited 08-31-2001).] |

A special thinking place. Everyone needs a place they can clear the thoughts, or hold dear to them new found spirit. I loved each verse. Thank you for your kindness and encouragement in your replies. It's an honor. Sincerely, Regina |

This lady has been in the land of the hanging moss and the toothy critters and has put it into words so that it can be easily seen by those that have not. |
