How many mistakes are we given in this life?
Is there a book that is kept from our sight?
That lists a number that we are given,
And a number of ones that we are forgiven?
With the rest to be held over our head,
To be used as a lever to ever dread?

Is one mistake all that bad,
To overshadow the life we have had?
Answer all that hold a belief,
A person should never find any relief.
Look for the one that would cast first stone,
Never could they be the one to atone.

To make a mistake is to be so real,
Regardless of how we are made to feel.
Karma tells us to walk our path,
Learning from our MISTAKES, without wrath.
For if you never made a mistake, you never tried,
To say you haven’t is to have surely lied.

We have to live with the things we have done,
But you have to realize, the past is now run.
Today is the first day of the rest of our days,
There is no sense in making them a maze.
For what we are is what we have become,
Not bearing the load of every mistake under the sun.

Close the book on mistakes of the past,
Even if others wish them to last.
Throwing them up in your very eyes,
Pointing them out to the highest skies.
Sigh, mistakes are part of what we are,
Just human, never perfect by far.

Logan....are you a mind reader?   teehee
I have been reading on this very subject...
once again sweet keeper of the fire...
your wisdom shines down on us all.
may I share some wisdom of the ancients ...

quote:
"The person that makes no mistakes in their life, ends up an old fool.
The person who makes many mistakes,
But learns from each and every one ...
becomes the wisest of the wise."

"Failure is not in the falling down ...
it is in the not getting back up"

smiling...will have to send you the story this reminded me of...it's just a brief anecdote, but it's about mistakes. And yes, I believe we learn more from those than our successes. Hugs logan.

Sounds like a solid plan to me, even though I do seem to want to repeat some of the so called mistakes.
Holding a grudge never does us any good, towards others, or towards ourself. I think at times we hold it more against ourselves than others do. Nice thoughtful write.

You are very wise, Sir, and the first thing one learns is that if one has made peace with God for their mistakes, and can feel His forgiveness, then one has done all one can to recant their sins...

and no one should say otherwise.  It is, after all, between a person and their God...

Well done!  Remarkable penning...thank you for sharing yourself....

Logan, Your writing to me, confesses what each one of us has felt at one time or another. Never perfect - only human. Will this be a mark on us in the end? Quite good.

Logan--

Your words are so true and wise.  To learn from our mistakes is the best thing we, as humans can do, and then forgive ourselves.  It takes a lot of mistakes to learn these valuable lessons.
