Skip to the Curl my Darling

Children’s bare feet
fairly skipping
over pavement
towards sands of
time and ocean's
curl

adults feet hopping
across same,
feeling more
by weight of
gain
though sands of
time and ocean's
curl
brings fond recall
of
younger boy and
little girl

still they feel the
heat rise more

and the ocean may only
quench so much

what! To be young
again, no, I think not
for I would know from
where I’m ought to
be more in tune
with the summer
and the runes of
time, before
the ruins of mind
fall out of
harmony
with inner
chime

to allow the curling
wave me be,
to hurl me back
to memories
of when I could
skip a jingle along
the brine
merry were
those days of
mine

oh single me out
through foggy
mist, come see
the youth to
grow to kiss, a
maiden of delight
in spray,
O again come
those golden
days
but harbor me
among my peers
who would look
again toward
youthful years
with no regret,
but fondly summon

as sands of
time and ocean's
curl
brings fond recall
of
boys and girls

this makes me think of watching my kids now, listening to them, hearing my echo in their voices......
