I admit it.
I couldn't deal with your
leaving,
and yes I black veiled not only
my face
but also my eyes.
Befriended pretense surmised darkness
to be
pain free,
my silk lined confines would
suffice;
if you were dead, then so
was I.

Day after day in the
comfort of darkness
I cried.
I was wet, but I was fine,
I thought,
within the darkness
of you and I.

I can't remember
exactly when,
I turned, my arm reached past
the limits I had set and
surprisingly, it hurt.
The pain brought realization,
it was the first time
I felt anything in days
and days.
What happened to my
broken heart?
Didn’t I claim it would
never stop hurting?

Then came the day I thought I heard
birds singing.
Birds?
Surely my ears lied.
I gave no birds permission to sing
in my self imposed
night.
Two handed I pushed-
the darkness aside.
I closed my eyes
but it was too late
to go back, like it
or not I was back in the
light.

and in the light, though painful and reluctant in our minds...is where we should be...

thank you all....I had a hard time feeling this was finished, but my muse refused to revisit it....*shakes her head* so here I am....and gosh it sure is bright
