Before too long the torrents stopped;
MissGypsy's tent was duly mopped.
The weather cleared, the sun came back;
She stayed off plans she'd had to pack.

For once the sunshine dried up all
The farmers' corn stalks growing tall,
The summer rays returned their hue,
With fields then quenched the grasses grew.

MissGypsiNess looked grand indeed
Embraced by clover's floral weed.
A bright new day made Gypsy smile;
She settled in to stay awhile.

But dry and comfort did not last;
The skies brought on another blast.
She hunkered down - it poured again;
This is the norm for Michigan…

"You'd best prepare, these winds blow hard!"
Said Passion's heckling magic bard.
Lo and behold - the tempests came…
Indoors they played a Scrabble game.

She hesitantly looked outside…
Her tent blew down - It rained inside!
"My Gawd!" she said, "The rain fly's doffed…
The wind's so strong the roof flew off !"

So one more time she mopped and dried.
"Enough of this!" Gypsy descried.
She's tired of living in the rough;
Of SoggiNess she's seen enough.

Miss GypsiNess has had her fill
Of butterflies and whippoorwills.
She's had enough of crickets' trill
Houseflies and bugs make fine road kill.

Plucked a bouquet of weedy flowers
Huge katydid hopped in her shower
She nearly stepped upon a snake
Be sure of this - That's all it takes!

The time is nigh to pack and go…
Grand times she's had, you all should know
But now she'll be on Cape Cod's shore,
These Chronicles she'll pen no more.

If anyone asks where she's gone,
Her message left said, "Dear Friend Ron,
MissGypsy's in her travelin' van.
You'll see her next byline as Nan."

Too charming, and oh so correct about the haphazard ways and days of Michigan's blaze...

We've so enjoyed your thoroughNess
of chronicled travails, Ms. GypsiNess
so please take that van and ride
back to the shore's seaside
when we shall glimpse our favored Nan
with love and hugs, your poetic Fans

Now it all comes to an end. I sure hope you'll do this again soon, Miss Ness!   This was a delightful read of course.

But, but … rain is good!

Don't let these half-truths color your decision to move to Michigan, Sharon. The poem is a pure delight, to be sure, as is the poetess, but an accurate presentation of fact doesn't always represent Truth. I think living in a tent too long has warped MissGypsy's perspective. Okay, the snake probably didn't help, either.

Before you make that decision to move, you should read a REAL chronicle about our lovely Michigan Summer, my humble attempt to set right this unwarranted disparagement.

MissGypsiNess~

Ah, the life of a GypsiNess
can sometimes lead to flooded mess
Just how much can a Gypsi take -
A lot of rain ! ! !
BUT ... not one snake ! !

EEK ... run for your life MissGypsiNess
I hear he's just a 'snake in the grass'
From what I hear of the Passions' bard
Tee-Hee ... he's just a big blow hard !

Into that van MissGypsiNess
Back to the Cape Cod of your bliss
Bon Voyage to Michigan's wind and rain
Ahhhhhhh, the sea shore beckons your name !

*MissGypsi ... this was ADORABLE !
Now off to read the defense maneuver !
ROFLMLFO !
*Hugs*

MissGypsiNess-
   LOL!!  This is just too cute!
   I'm thinkin' Michigan sounds like my
   kind of place with all that rain!
   We could sure use some of that here
   about now!  And...I always did like
   camping out in a tent!  LOL!!
   Love this little ditty!!

   hugs,

There is no way I would ever, ever stay in a tent in a place where there is thunder and lightening, are you crazy?  Well, don't answer that!  SHEESH, that is when everyone would find out what a sissy I am!  Great poem - sorry I missed these before (am looking for the recent ones can't find them?)

I pass this way but once, here's hoping I meet you.   Sharon
