Along about the midnight hour,
shadows from the past creep in.
I've locked my heart, closed my eyes,
to keep from seeing them.

But unrelenting, deep and dense,
colors dark as night.
They weave their way into my
mind, until the morning light.

One stands out from all the rest.
that shadow,  I'll call.. 'time'.
Too many years, that I let pass,
Lost years, I'll never find.

Amid the shadows, Guilt, tilts and turns.
And love, tucks it's head in shame.
Because to one , I'm wrongly bound,
A shadow, that I can't name.

So many years, so much time,
And now love makes a bow.
Time and guilt takes precedence.
Because of a wedding vow.

All of those shadows, each with a name,
And each one causes strife.
So I'll review them, every one.
They are the milestones of my life.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

Dear Kitty, you are not alone with your feelings, if they are true to life; we all have our doubts and regrets. Years and time find us changing with our partners not, we find love maybe in our writing or even another, but guilt of the two keeps us bound to our situations. Vows are only what they mean to ourselves, mearly words to some, a promise for life for others.

Hope you find your happiness soon.

Wow! We all have skeletons in the closet. I check mine every night and make sure it's locked up tight   But really...this speaks volumes about guilt and how things do change. Some milestones do haunt us as horrific reminders of not getting anywhere. I hope you find a nice smooth stepping stone in the future. God bless.

Sincerely,
Regina

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone....and boy watch out, cause they still throw 'em.

Kitty~
I thought this was a powerfully poignant piece~

'One stands out from all the rest.
that shadow,  I'll call.. 'time'.'

Wonderful imagery here~
Way to go, gal~
