Star gazing for the gullible in 2001 |

Only nursery rhymes can describe the way you’ve left me here, removed from your front burner and cooling to the touch. Peas porridge hot peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot where love’s grown old. I let down my hair for you, the blind prince who climbed over the walls of excuses and defeated the dragon, the evil witch, the giant at the end of the beanstalk. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack was burned by the candlestick. I can’t help but shatter when I think of you... How will I ever let you let me go? Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall humpty dumpty had a great fall. All the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn’t make you try and love me again. My window shows a black sky with stars that flash neon, and somehow I’m still convinced they’re real. Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight I wish I may, I wish I might don’t let the heartache come tonight. 2001 and a new year for wishful thinking, and although I knew it was only a dream, I never wanted us to be the Grimm fairytale "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." You've intertwined your own new words and some old-timers to express some very intense feelings here, Sax... We do learn to protect our own hearts, don't we??? Keep writing - It's nice to see you posting more.... |

LOve is not always a fairy tale with a happy ending but one day your prince charming will come, I am sure. Cleverly written, Tia. "Here I am in prison, here I am with a ball and chain There is whiskey in the jar-o" Traditional irish song. |

Thanks all for responding, it was hard to write. It was one of those moments of forced reality, you know? It only seemed fitting to fantasize it. "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone |

forced reality??? hmmmmmmmmm. . . that's a poem on its own. . . I really like what you've done with this one. . . the intertwining is really good. . . what's real?? and what isn't?? -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Hmmm Sven, maybe I'll save that phrase for a sequal? Who knows? Thanks for the reply Jenn, I tell ya, it was blood sweat and tears the whole way through lol. But it was definately a labor of love. Thank you for your compliments, they mean a lot coming from such a good poet. "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone |
