I thought this day
Would never come
I thought my heart
Would never be won.

But when I saw that
Diamond ring
I wanted to jump up
And sing.

That diamond ring
Though very small
Represents that you've been my friend
Through it all.

You kissed me
And pulled me against you
To keep my sanity and not leap
With glee
Was the least that I could do.

We've been through rain
We've been through snow
That diamond ring in your eyes
Glow.

It glistens as you give it to me
And I watch your lips as you speak
Earnestly.

Then you slip it on my finger
And you gently take my hand
And you tell me that it's the start
Of your wonderful plan.

Then you lift me high
So I think I can almost touch a
Star
This diamond ring will keep us close
Even when we are far apart...

This poem was in answer to a poetry challenge I took. It's not dedicated to my boyfriend because we are not married (yet, lol!). It's just a little story I made up. I hope you like it.
