~* Kaleidoscopic Reflections *~A memory woke me up today, A task to do was my alarm, Time to clean the attic, What could be the harm? As I climbed up the ladder, With anticipation in my soul, Longing to see the treasure boxes, But to downsize was my goal. Sunlight on dusty mirrors cast, Like rainbows in the haze; Kaleidoscopic reflections, Of those long forgotten days. Memories of lives and times, So carefully tucked away, Stored up in the attic, To be seen another day. I spotted the great old chest, Resting up against the wall, With the key of trepidation, I opened the tiny latch so small. It was filled with musty history, Collected pieces of ancient lore; Yellowed clippings, old letters, And family photographs galore. Generations of family souvenirs, All remnants of yesterday; Mementos of those special times, Each generation packed away. I traveled through that time machine, And saw the past once more; Amidst the cobwebbed memories As I sat, beyond the attic door. I finally found what I was looking for, A teddy bear my Mom had made for me, But inside were so many treasures, I felt others would want to see. How could I throw any of this away, There was even a wedding gown, I sorted it, put it all back in, And decided to pass it on down. art: "Attic Treasures" ~ Janet Kruskamp www.biggallery.com midi: "Meadow Morn" If you have but one true friend when you die you were truly blessed |

With a tiny tear tricling down my cheek, I have to let you know that this piece touched me deeply. Your use of poetic imagery is suberb and so down to earth. Thanks for the gift ~ ~ "Sunlight on dusty mirrors cast, Like rainbows in the haze; Kaleidoscopic reflections,Of those long forgotten days" Fluid and sheer artistry! Love and peace Maggie ((~.~)) |

Oh, I really enjoyed this Sharon. I adore treasure hunting through the attics, and you've captured the mood and sentiments beautifully in this lovely piece. Pass it all down I say ... throw nothing away. Much enjoyed! Best wishes, /Kit |

Sharon, this was so beautiful, and it took me on a trip down memory lane as well. I still have the first teddy bear my great grandmother gave me when I was two years old...he and my first Raggedy Ann doll sit upon my bed and will someday be passed down to my girls. They may seem like small and trivial things in the eyes of those who aren't aware of their sentimental significance...but there are some things that mark bonds to precious memories ~ and there can be no value placed on those reflections. Thanks for sharing your heart warming memories with us. Hugs, smiles, and much love to you, ~*~dawn~*~ |

I'm smiling - and pass it down you should - so that your essence is intact for your future generations... Remember how much fun it is to browse through our own family heirlooms... Good plan.. Good plan.. |

This reminds me so much of the hours and hours I spend in my Grandparent's attic. Sweet memories. Live today as if it's your last. Love today as if it's your first. Lisa |

~* Kit, Sea, Lady In White, Nan ~* I am so glad you smiled (I can see you!) as that was my intention. You also made my morning smile that you enjoyed it. I kept every single slip of paper and letter I found and it is all organized (Martha Stewart would be proud) ~* Martha and Andy *~ I plan on boring you to tears with some of the things I found and I wanted to show that teddy bear to you. Glad you liked it and Andy you bet, you want to come in the attic with me and you think you can handle it - your on! [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 08-21-2001).] |

Carolina ~ I too spent many hours in the attic and sorting buttons in button jars for hours. Nostalgia always makes me smile, and I am glad it brought a memory back for you too. If you have but one true friend when you die you were truly blessed. |
