Look Mommy!

'Look mommy I wrote my name!'
My girl said with glee
'I even got the sizes right
Aren't you proud of me?'

'That's great dear I'm so proud'
And then I turned to see
The spot where she had written her name
Oh why does this happen to me?

The wall was the place
Just in front of the door
How will I clean it?
Oh what a chore!

'Why did you do this?'
I asked her in anger
Her smile turned to fright
As if there were danger

'Just want to be big'
Was all she could say
'I'm sorry mommy
Don't be mad, 'kay?'

I stopped and thought hard
I knew what to do
Say a prayer for me
And one for her too

Then we'll clean up the wall
Or keep it the same
For that was my little girl
Writing her name

Thanks to Vicky for helping with the graphic!  I couldn't have done it without you!

Cindi~
Oh .... this is just so precious~
What a loving, patient mommy you are~
Put a frame around it and treasure it !

We kept a 'memory-wall' in our family home
when the children were young~
They were encouraged to do their little 'art' works
and precious pennings on that wall-
Our youngest son now owns the family home -
and he wouldn't think of replacing that wall~
We all still get 'misty-eyed' exploring it~

Cindi-
You know I love this one, and the fact
that I know and love Torie makes it
that much more special to me.
You really should do that memory wall.
   Wonderful, my dear.

   Love ya,

cpalmer, I can see that little face as you got upset and I know the feelings well!  I have a way of "shooting my mouth off" before I stop and think.  That little face will haunt you for a long time.  The memory wall sounds like a great idea.  Wish I had done that.  Love the picture and the poem.  You will never let this happen to you again.  You are beautiful as all mom's are.  ME

Ahhhh yes, the trials of a parent are never ending but neither is the love of a mother.  Wonderful write and of course the subject couldn't be better.  Truely enjoyed this one.

LOL..have been there ... the crazy thing is, today is the first day both my children have been in school, and though you poem was light and suppose to be fun, I found myself wiping tears-- insanely missing the colored walls and the sweet baby talk of "Kay" instead of okay.
Enjoy the moments that make you want to pull out your hair, they disappear so quickly with the years.
