Thats Just The Way It Is

Like all who gaze upon this life-
I often wonder, "Why"?
Our lives, like flowers, blossom-
Then wither up and die?

Why children lose their innocence-
Why people lose their way-
And things which we believe will last-
Too quickly do decay.

Why dreams turn into nightmares-
And life becomes a drudge-
Why days once passed so quickly,
Now minutes seem to trudge?

Why sorrow seems to darken-
Lives once so filled with bliss?
And then I sadly realize-
That's just the way it is!
