Bug Watching

Their loop-da-loop at night
is like a sparklers show.
Their light bodies leaving a trail
of reflected glow.
Big ones, littles ones,
spinning all around.
They head for the light
and end up on the ground.
Some make it there
and that's when you'll see
a little wisp of smoke
as they meet their destiny.

I say stomp them to the ground, exterminate them, fry them...I mean, those cute little critters

Irish Rose ~ hehehe   when you don't have a fireplace while camping (there's a fire-ban in my area) you tend to resort to other means.  We ended up gazing at our Coleman's lamp...and so did millions of enthralled bugs!

Hey Smitten, cute poem, I liked it but sweetie, we need to get you out more! (BTW, my daughter's nick-name is bug--you didn't happen to see her flittin' around your lantern did you? I've tried to break her of that--chuckle.

I love bugs as long as they keep a comfortable distance, which they rarely have the good sense to do, so thanks for zapping a few.

Constance ~ hehe, I hope you don't think I sit at home watching bugs all night!
This was just a camping experience     And what a cute nickname...I'll keep an eye out for her next time and make sure she doesn't get too close to that light!

Duncan ~  I love *some* bugs....and yes, they don't seem to have any sense of personal space do they?

Thank you both for reading and taking time to share

Bugs are cool when they dance the dance of death, I think they think its a mating call.

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.

You may be a red neck if your idea of entertainment is sitting on the porch with a cold beer watching the bug zapper.

Paladin ~ hehehe   no, I'm not.  What does it make me if I'm Canadian and I sit around watching bugs?
