The thunder demands our notice,
unseen clouds sieve the shifting rain,
storms never fail to emote us
as it's winds lash the window pane.

I recall Loves finest hour
when wordless your head on my breast,
the sounds of the winter shower,
shallow breath, hearts beating in chests.

My sheltering warmth your furnace,
so soothing your smooth supple skin,
no strife in the world concerned us
our life was the Love we'd within.

Loves sustenance fed desire,
desire was quenched by our touch,
touch never failed to inspire
a fire we doused in the clutch.

Remember the work that you missed?
For I couldn't bear you clothed,
I'd drag you to bed where we kissed
one more day to me betrothed.

Your fragrance I wore everywhere
an ode to the odor of Love,
aroma replaced even air
tis obsession I'm writing of.

Twenty years now Love slipped away
a score of the sorely departed
and always on cold rainy days
I restore the pain of the parted.

Ahhh...this was so sad Richard.  Love lost is the worst kind, and it hurts the most as well.  Isn't it funny how no matter how long we are away from the one we knew we loved, The memory never goes away?  Great write!

Richard this is so softly sensual, passionate, and bittersweet...achingly expressed, but yet even though there is loss and pain associtated with the memory...I dont sense any bitterness...or heavy regret.
This poem touches me, and brings up some memories of my own.
well done,
jm

wont you sing me your poetry
wont you take me to your home
wont you be for me forever
so Ill never be alone
youre my dream, its a beautiful thing

The last stanza was the heavy one, for me.  Indeed, "true love" does not always vanish mutually...

I too, did not sense any bitterness here. Just a perfect reverie of passion. Some memories we just don't let go of because it adds to our essence. Rain, means so many different things to each. Loved this!

Remembering past loves whether 2 years or 20 it still never stops the memory of a beating heart, very splendid poem.

I've always loved your writing even though I've often read such sadness between the lines. This particular poem was nothing short of wonderful in that you've expressed your feelings from the heart of a loving poet~

May love be yours, my friend.

Peace

Kate
