Stark and tall, the eucalypt, stands proud upon the plain. Arms reaching out to touch the sky, it's trunk arched with the strain. Harsh mountains in the distance, of rolling hills, no trace. Surrounded by heat and dust, an unforgiving place. This land of rugged beauty is not the place for me. Take me home to Erin's shores to where my heart roams free. This was written many years ago with my Grandfather, who missed Ireland constantly. Take me back to Erin's shores, |

Nice writing...I come in contact with many people that are far from their native homeland and they yearn for the place of their roots where they would feel more comfortable...James |

I grew up among the eucalyptus...this brought their fragrance right back to me, and I can understand why your Grandfather would want his shores of Ireland... very nice! |

James, it is sad to watch someone pine for something they can no longer have. Sunshine, the eucalypts are a wonderful smell, but not what Grandfather wanted. Thank you both for your comments. Maeve Take me home to Erin's shores, |

I'm always looking to convince somebody to go and explore Ireland with me... never been there but it has somehow become a part of my soul. Parker |

Sven, I hope he is there now too. He deserved to go back at the end. Sue, Ireland was where he was born and grew up, but Australia ended up being his home. And mine too. Parker, just whistle and I will come to explore Ireland with you. I have always had a facination for all things Irish. Maeve Take me home to Erin's shores, to where my heart roams free. Being 1/2 Irish this absolutely warmed half of my heart and soul, as I too long to go there. Rest assured your Grandfather is exactly where he wishes to be ~ To see real beauty you must look with your heart ~ |
