They all seem to have Ulterior motives. One clings to the leg Like a child refusing To let go. One tells of love and Filling--but between The lines, what does He show? Then the one I love Refuses to love me Back, but seeks to Continue playing games. Seems an Unholy Trinity. Am I wrong, or do They all seek Ultimate, complete Control? Pulling and tugging, Wrestling for a prize Until they have Destroyed it; unseeing In their blind eyes. Who really wishes for Me to be happy, Without their own gain, Designs in mind? Who is really a true Friend? All wanting it their Way. I refuse to stand On crutches, Will live by my Own hand, And if my choice Is to be alone, Who are they To reprimand? When someone comes Along to show me Love is true, I'll give ten times What I am given; Until that day comes, I refuse to let Myself be driven... For I am an empty Shell, My blood and heart Sucked dry. Trying to please Everyone, Unable to please Anyone... I am tired. I am done. ShannonM |

heartfelt writing, Shannon...and all too true. Those who try to drag you down are not friends....those who use need as their claim on you are not friends...those that make you smile at the sound of their name - now THAT'S a friend! ![]() |

You are too steps ahead of the game for recognizing how much better off you would be alone than with someone who brings you down! Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind... |

I know what you mean, ShannonM, and they don't sound like friends to me... I've found that there are MANY classifications/levels of people with whom one surrounds one's self in one's life: people you recognize and say "hi" to on the street, co-workers, colleagues, acquaintances, business partners, lovers, friends, best-friends, and soulmates, probably in that order. It's important to learn the distinctions and decide who is which in one's life. Trust must be the hardest thing to achieve and maintain in today's world, and it helps to have tests and levels to apply -- that way, one can have a much better idea as to who can truly be called a friend. -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |
