Just Nine by Michael On landscape timber garden rests a man in tears, gently brushing scarlet flowers with fingertips. As he sobs, he thinks back on her years. Just nine of them, just nine and now she’ll not see ten. He remembers how her little hand felt in his own and how she giggled at his goofy faces, how the doctors found cancer in the bone and then found it in so many other places. She said, “Don’t worry, Daddy, it’s okay.” His days and nights were spent beside her bed. He watched her little body wither ‘way and cherished every word his daughter said. His tears fall on the teddy bear she held. He draws it to his chest in an embrace. The doctors did their best, but then they failed, how brave the look upon her tiny face. Michael Auguste~ |

And tears stream down my face It just doesn't seem fair Nine years is far too little For you to have to share But I am sure the time was sweet No other love shall ever compete And as an Angel in heaven above Nine billion stars send out their love Touching and far too painful to put into words. Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind... |

Such a wrenching read, Auguste...and how tenderly you left us in tears... you slipped this in, and then slipped on out... much like life will do... Well done, Sir... |
