Hey there Lonesome and lonely Sitting there In the darkest of shadows What will you feel When the sun comes up And you realize That you are the batter You can let the pitcher Run your game Or you can take your chances And swing for the fences Walks in this game rarely happen Because it doesn't take long For the pitcher to realize When you're afraid to take a swing Aim for the fences Swing away There's nothing to lose And all of life to gain ...Aim for the fences Dan Owens Throw your heart out in front of you |

I'm seeing a sports nut here! But what a beautiful poem, and what wonderful statements...Home Run! Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind... |

Perhaps penning poetry coupled with a dose of self esteem will allow a batter to "see" the pitch with a clarity so strong that it appears a slow moving cantaloupe....then WHACK.....enjoyed. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve" |

I love it when a poem has more to say each time you read it. This is one of those. Another winner. |

Dan, this would make a great card to someone who is down or sick. Creatively fresh and encouraging. -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |

Wonderful mix of metaphors and message to inspire us ... not to mention the fact that it was just plain well written. It sort of has a cadence that captures the reader and urges them on. WELL DONE! |
