My daddy was a cockleburr, ...my ma, a rose's thorn, they had a sticky romance, ...'til finally, I was born. Raised in a Kansas junkyard, ...a really weedy joint, In case you are a wondering, ...this poem has no point. One day a dog came sniffing, ...though our weeds and grass, that day my daddy left me, ...stuck in a Collie's tail. It was me and momma, ...from that sad day on, I really missed my daddy, ...since he left, dog-gone. One day I met my true love, ...a pretty dandelion, to make her mine forever, ...I surely would be tryin. I sidled over near her, ...too close, I fear did prick her, said my darling dandelion, ...get lost, you little sticker. I blew home to momma, ...all sad, a wee bit cryin, momma held me close and said, ...forget that dandelion. So me and ma, through thick or thin, ...in sun or rainy weather, never did we move apart, ...we always stuck together. [This message has been edited by Mike (edited 07-28-2001).] |
