“ISLAND LADY” by Bill Charles ~~~~ I visited Vancouver Island, sometime a while back, it gave to me many things, that my heart seemed to lack… Like how to relax, peaceful harmony of mind, and serenity, all of these I had forgotten, for inside there was no tranquility… And while I was there traveling around, a sweet lady I did meet, she lived on the Island, with a Frenchman, who himself, was pretty neat… This couple I came to know, and so very good to me, treated me as one of their own, something you’d hardly see… A lady somewhat different, lived there most of her life, went through many hard times, and a lot of strife… But each day she would meet, with her caring nature, taught me a lesson she did, it was quite a booster… I learned how to be humble, and take little, but give more, these two people, for them most anything, I would do for… This is a most enchanting place, where I met them actually, her Frenchy they call ‘Frog’, and his special woman, ‘Island Lady’… ~~~~ [This message has been edited by Bill Charles (edited 07-12-2001).] |

Something about that wonderful place just continues to call your name, doesn't it, BCI... You'll find your way back, I'm sure... Nicely expressed, my friend... |

what fun, what friendliness!!! btw, did you get to see Fisgard Lighthouse? have you ever been to San Juan Island in the San Juans? I went there a year and a half ago, Friday Harbor and Lime Kiln Lighthouse. The place is full of artists and writers, I want to live there. Of course, I want to be a writer in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. I think that Vancouver Island could lend itself as readily to the artist/writer as well. I'm happy you were able to have such a relaxing/learning experience. Thanks for sharing it with us in this poem. |

Cpat Hair - yes, they are very interesting, and the best... Thank you for reading about the journey... Nan - ah yes, something about that place does call out to me. I will go back Nan, it's me... VAS - the most friendy people I have ever met. And yes, I spent a couple of hours at Fisgard taking pictures and just enjoying the place. Just beautiful. Have not been to San Juan Island, but would love to... I would love to live on the island and write and just spend the time knowing some serenity, and the peacefulness once again that it brought to me while I was there. Thank you VAS, for your words... |
