squinting into the wind
scanning the horizon
wanting to free a chunk from the sunset
and keep it in my pocket
somehow to soothe
the knot in my stomach
nervous twists
always present and growing
tripping and bouncing in my hollowed out torso
where he ran me through
if i could just rub the angelic halo around the golden sunset
maybe i wouldn't cry for you, for me...for us
if for one moment, one blink, one pump
i could hold the sacred in my small hands
cupping it to my ear
as to hear the untold volumes
then hold it to my mouth
first to sing to it, soft and raspy songs of truth
then as to taste it, savour it....light and sweetness linger on my lips
then to whisper my own chapters into the light
to see it cling to them, inhale them
and someday, someone else will hold the sunset in their palms to taste it
and in doing so
they will taste me.

it was love that first drew me,
it is love that will keep me here...
now I see love burning brightly
when everything else is unclear...

powerfully vivid and filled with emotion

really enjoyed the read, what a wonderful idea, a chunk of the sky...makes me think of one of my favorite songs of the 50's..."Catch a Falling Star."
