                 anything
i sit in the dark
waiting for something
anything
the quiet of the night scares me as the wind blows a cool breeze down my neck
shivers up my spine
hairs standing up
the still frightens me as a bush rustles in the black night
i sit waiting for something
anything
an owl hoots its tune as i clench my arms close around me
i hear a sweet wisper in the dark and i look around
and there you are
the sun rises
the doves sing
the warmth comes and i breathe once again
i no longer sit waiting for anything
nothing
