SKYLINE Take two towers, reaching high Concrete fingers point at the sky Scrap metal given the power to fly A skyline is undone Hundreds, thousands, injured, dead An image forms inside my head A tattered flag that's bloodstained red And dust that blocks the sun A sea of broken glass that gleams A choir of shrill and tortured screams The Pentagon, ripped at the seams The tomb of Washington "Apocalypse" The headlines say A view destroyed in just one day In a country that seems far away The battle's not yet won. |

This is an extremely powerful poem on a subject that is still for many quite painful to bring up, I think that you have captured the horror of an entire nation within this peice and it has certainly brought back those dreadful images to my mind. Thank you for sharing this extremely well written peice, It stirred a lot of emotion within me and it made me think about those dreadful events. Andrew ~: Coming Soon :~ |

Wow, this was beautiful. I think we should make a book of 9/11 poems. |

nice rhyme... whilst enjoying the 'flow' of this poem it brought back some deep feelings of the 9/11 event......(which is a good thing..) |
