a girl of nothing but grays
used to be in my art class
she always wore knee-lengthed skirts
and oversized sweaters

she was very pretty
with small lips and big eyes
yet she was always sober
with a heavy sadness

you could see it in the way she walked
there was no rush because
there was no reason
but her face was somehow always shadowed

her paintings were always different
but somehow the same
of dark fallen angels
and weary sad-eyed girls

i had decided i loved her
one night when i looked at the moon
it was pale like her cheek
so i took a picture of it

some days later i painted my first portrait
of that wide moon
and the silhouette
of a girl grey and a boy of blue

i set it on her easel
and she looked at it for a long while,
there was a stirring in her eyes
and the faint glimmer of a smile

This is nice, Wes. Very beautiful undercurrent to it. The girl reminds me of someone I know. She always wears over sized clothing and paints a hell of a lot.

You've created a wonderful scene here rich with a lovely poetic flavour. You held me from the word go. I love it.
