As shadows, sleek and mild mannered, watched with silent eyes I wished to know how one could dream upon the starlight strewn Across the wild canopy of prairie, midnight skies. The loon glides slowly down the stream and croons a forlorn tune That basks within the stale air, and silenced all the world. I sat and listened, staring up, and wondered what to do If all the clouds came raining down, in silver, whispy swirls. The golden fields of harvest wheat reflect a blue tinged light And wavers slightly in the air, then flickers, limps, and sighs I sought to gain this prairie flame that lit my path at night As shadows, sleek and mild mannered, watched with silent eyes. * * * * * Still not happy yet. *grump* Next time, I will try freeverse...
