She doesn't smile quite as quickly as she used to
And the hint of tears betrays the pain she'd rather leave ignored
She's dragging her feet like the weight of the world came crashing down on her,
Spun her 'round in circles 'til nothing made sense anymore
She's clinging to what's left of the world that seems familiar
She's lost a little something of the things she used to know
These days she's missing everything she couldn't carry with her
She took a good look at her world, then she turned and let it go
The tears that she won't cry would taste bitter to the tongue
And the sweet irony of it all now only makes her laugh
She's scared that it all has no significance or meaning
And the memories will fade like a forgotten photograph
She bites her lip and traps emotion inside her mocking heart
She won't speak much of what's been going wrong inside her head
Her deceitful smile stops the flood of words before it starts
She's a firm believer that some things are better left unsaid
But she's staring at the walls that she's worked so hard to build
She hates that everything around her is tainted black and white
She'd like to break away and let it all fall down
And watch her only hiding place be painted by the light
She's longing for that moment of truth to strip away the mask
She's closer to needing some reckless abandon than she has ever been
If you wait long enough, you might be the one she'll ask
to listen to her ramblings and to watch her smile again
She'll curl up in your comfort and let her worries slip away
If you'll only stay awhile and make the world disappear
There is soul searching to do and a million words to say
And there's so much in this silence that she's dying for you to hear.

The day you were born, you were born free
That is your privilege.

its been awhile acire
not really hard times...i would say more like "contemplative" times. I've had a very close friend point out to me recently that I bite my lip when I'm thinking or when I have something to say but don't really know if I should say it. Thats where this came from. Its about having STUFF, I mean a lot of stuff, on your mind and not being able to get it out, either because there is no one to turn to or just because you yourself won't let it out. It's about the things we all think or feel in our heads but don't say out loud for reasons only known to us. The ending is about finding someone you trust enough to let yourself say everything without worrying about how they'll take it or what they'll think. That's all really, I guess
Thanx for the reply, and i just may take u up on the offer to email u sometime
Luv ya

Reminds me of Chiquititta from ABBA, ever heard it? All the same, it's a sweet poem, haunting and real!
