I'm a volunteer for the Red Cross, and at one of our many blood drives today, one of our girls was turned away from giving blood.  She was crying because she wanted to save a life(actaully a pint can save 3 lives).  However, by seeing how upset she was, others donated, and we met our requirements!! (yay us!!!)  To find out how you can give blood, go to your local red cross branch and find out when the next drive is.  You can save three lives today....
With tears in her eyes, as they turned her away
She just wanted to save a life today
Who cares about her health, who cares what they say
She just wanted to save a life today
The pain in her heart watching everyone lay
She just wanted to save a life today
Little did she know, with her tears that she paid
She saved many lives that day

Actually, at my school Red Cross is comming to have donors come and give blood. I would love to donate blood, I really want to help people, I haven't been in a situation where it's life or death if I don't recieve blood. I just want to give someone else the same oppertunity to live and breath freash air, as I do everyday. Only problem... I have to be exactly 17 to donate blood, no less. It doesn't matter if I parental consent, I have to be 17.
I'm glad there are some people out there donating who are old enough. Until I turn 17/18 I'll be waiting for the day I can donate.

there's nothing you can throw at me,
that I haven't already heard"

i liked this lisa...donating blood is such a slefless thing to do...more ppl should get their blood type checked and give blood. i liked the poem...very nicely done

Zombie

Torn are her limbs
By quiet hands that
Tug life(color) out of her.
Gnawing edges round
Into a broken(satisfying)
Shadow

That is very cool. Are there any other ways to help without donating blood?  Last time they had to draw blood from my arm for tests, I went hysterical, was crying and laughing at the same time, and almost fainted...
I know, I'm a wuss.

yes, you can help out at the blood drives, I have anemia so I can not donate, but I work hard at the drives and it makes me feel like I am helping
