You can go ahead and think that you're my only friend
I won't ruin your childish game of pretend
You can go ahead and think I would care if it all ends
That I would beg for your forgiveness and try to make amends
Hey, it's fine. Whatever gets you through the day
Makes you feel like the person that you are is okay
Just know that when you tell me goodbye, there's nothing I will say
I hope that you didn't expect for me to ask you to stay
That isn't the type of person I am, nor will I ever be
I know that friends come and go, you just filled the space when I was lonely
However, I do wish that things could've turned out differently
But I hold grudges so long that it will feel like an eternity
When I look back on "us" and the times we spent together
I should've known that our friendship couldn't make it to forever
You always left me standing outside (alone) in the worst of weather
I thought we'd always be friends though and it turned out to be -- never

Strong words here, Sarah. More often than not, the friendships we think will last for a very long time never do. Holes can be filled, people can be replaced but still, it hurts in the process.

It read through ok. The extended rhyme is all good but in some sections it's a little too extended.

Sorry that you're going through this at the moment but if this person is causing you this amount of anguish, you're better off without them.

Thanks for posting and don't forget to reply to others.

Sometimes friendships werent meant to be, I have a friend who hurts me a lot, and I try to distance myself from her, but she is always there, trying to be a "good friend."
Maybe I should send her this poem.....

Great Write

I had a friend like this once...for a long time actually, and when she was out of my life, I realized I hadn't needed her as much as I thought I had....and letting her go was one of the best things I've ever done for me and through all that babble you were supposed to get, that I liked this poem

This piece was very strong. You really got your feelings out in this one. Friends like this arent worth our time and arent really friends to begin with. Nicely done
