In the graveyard, Sitting on a old rotted stump Surrounded by dead people tombstones Some you can tell who they left behind, And others you cannot tell who they are. New life starts here every day And more people come in everyday, but cannot leave. They are here for life, a final resting-place. Under the ground, in the dirt. As I think of the lost love ones, a tear slips down my cheek I feel so peaceful Nothing to worry about No problems up here Just me and dead people in the ground They don’t know me, and never will. I feel so safe, talking to the dead. They listen to me like no one else has So, when I talk they listen and cannot talk back. I feel like I know them, but never will I can cry and feel the comfort Like they know what I am going through Looking over the quiet little town from up above Everything looks so dead But we are so alive. I really liked this poem. I have to admit, the topic of graveyards has never come up as something I would write about, but I'm impressed how well you pulled this off. Dawn |

Those last two lines aren't entirely true. A lot of us are already dead but merely living in a shell. There is no life in our souls to call us a living person. Death, graveyards. Yay for the morbid topic. I'm being serious. Dark poetry is always far more fascinating than love. Thanks for the interesting read. Much enjoyed. ~AF~ ::Most people never listen:: |
