And I stand here; feet welded to the ground by the hot wax of my own conscience. My mind drowns in its own thoughts. I ignore it and choose to think of nothing in particular. What is left? Two sides fight. What is right? The bitter war carries on as I watch another unfold. Part wants to join in. If nothing more, he'll get a kick out of it. Punch him once for me. The other, the other knows this is silly. Understand maturity does not befriend teenage boys. In minutes, it is over, it will never be finished. There was a winner on the field, there is a new on in the parking lot. You smile at me with blood slipping through your teeth, morphine slipping through a tired body. I can not help but smile back. ~Susie ~*~Born to Blossom and Bloom to Perish~*~ |

"You smile at me with blood slipping through your teeth," What a very powerful poem. This is wonderful work... I enjoyed it very much. The last stanza was my favorite, that last line was a heart-wrencher. Very well done, Susan... I can't wait to read more ![]() --Marie I wish your fingers could touch all I can't say... no one should ever feel this alone. |
