I know it's crappy, but I was venting. So yeah... You sat there quietly I guess waiting for me to speak I had so much to say but no words in which to say it So this is how it ends for two people who were once close friends You’re going down a road where I cannot abide You don’t want my help You see nothing wrong But I cannot ignore the fact that your doing drugs and selling to other teens hanging out on the street Is it really so much fun that you need another hole in the head? Does it make you feel grown up? Does it make you feel like you’ve got some control? Or perhaps an escape from it all? You claim I wouldn’t know because I’ve never done it Well you’ve never cut yourself before so you wouldn’t know about that But ignorance doesn’t make it right for either of us And while you find so much identity in popping another pill I wonder when it’ll finally come time when you grow out of it I’m walking empty streets, Because even though I’ve got so much to say You’re already gone 11.9.01 Fearlessness isn't living without fear, fearlessness is being afraid and still living. jaimespoetry.blogspot.com [This message has been edited by Dark Enchantress (edited 11-11-2001).] |

P.S. -> I know there are probably some people in here who do drugs and they're going to get all defensive about this. Personally, I don't care what your argument is about why there's nothing wrong with it, blah blah blah, whatever. It's just my opinion. You have yours. I have mine. I can't change your mind and most likely you can't change mine. So let's not bother going there, okay? Thanks. I understand this. Maybe not so much of the dealing issue, but losing friends to drugs, it's awful. I agree with you. ![]() Jenn "I want love on my own terms; after everything I've ever learned. Me, I carry too much baggage..." |

This is a really good poem and really well written, but I dont think you shoul shut out a friend because he is addicted, maybe you should rather try helping or maybe even make fun of him using drugs so he'll wake the hell up |

I have tried helping her, but like I said in the poem... she doesn't believe that there's anything wrong. People who don't want to be helped can't be helped. I'm not shutting her out. I just felt at the moment that we were "seperating", but we're not. Thanks everyone for your replies and comments. I really appreciate it. I disagree, people who don't want to be helped just need more help. you can't leave a friend when they need you the most, whether they know it or not. It's not that they don't want help, they just don't realize what they are doing, the people they're screwing, and the life they're losing. You need to bring it to the person's attention. Might not change the path he/she is on, but they will take a second to look at it from your perspective, and see your concerns. If anything at least they'll know you care. I've been there before, won't say which side I was on, but I completely connect with this situation. OK, I'm done rambling. Nice poem. Good luck Jon "Only God can judge me" Tupac Shakur |

I am helping. What I mean is that I can't force anything on her. I can only do so much before she meets me halfway. I mean for example, when I was cutting and burning myself everyone tried to help, but no one could get me to stop because I didn't believe there was anything wrong with it. I finally stopped because I wanted to. I'm always there for her and I'm trying to get her to see what's wrong with it, but I can't change her mind. I don't have that power. That's what I meant by "people who don't want help can't be helped". I didn't mean that I was just going to stop trying. I would kick my own "butt" if I was so lazy as to give up on a friend like that. Very powerful piece here. I've had to walk the lonely streets myself. It's hard, but it's something that some people have to go through. Good luck. ![]() I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

All I can say is wow... I totally agree wih you. I have a friend that I've pretty much lost to drugs and other, in my mind, things of stupidity. I've tried to do all that I can at the moment to try to help her, but it's hard when they think they're doing what's right for them. All that you can do is keep loving them and keep caring. I really ejoyed the poem, good job. And good luck. - Cody - |

Its a tough situation to deal with when someone you care for so much is unwilling to be helped or to even realize that something is wrong wether it be that they're on drugs, their depressed or they have some sort of problem that needs attending to...its difficult and i give you a lot of credit for trying but i should take my own advice when i say...people cant be helped unless they wanna be and there is only so much you can do..the rest is up to them ShE'S nOt ThE kInDa GiRL..WhO lIkeS tO tElL tHe WorLd AbOuT tHe Way She FEEL'S aBouT hErSelf...ShE tAkEs a LiTtLe TiMe In MakIn uP hEr MiNd.. |
