I cannot see age old boundaries, although my sandals walk these cobbled stones - momentary imprints in the sand. Blood falls silently from young men’s bodies women cradle both young and old - broken stones litter narrow passageways short distances mark the road from war to peace - prayers in mosque, temple and cathedral choke back rage and sorrow. Winds shift nations extinct in this our land. Worry not in contemplation: all shall vanish - no longer imprints in the sand. White Sands National Monument. Julian, Well written, my friend. Unfortunately, a very sad topic to pen a poem about. Be well. Michael Proust- |

Thank you all for reading. This poem was written in answer to a challenge by the same name, "Imprints in the Sand." For some the beach holds meaning as we watch and guage our growth by the size of our footprints, for some it is building sandcastles and memories of days spent in youth and for me it is the contemplation of boundaries erased and vanished in desert sands. War we must apparently; however, I assure that these things too shall vanish leaving no imprints in the sands. ~shalom "I am not now that which I have been." |

Thank you Saunni: yes a sad epic of our modern life. Why war? Is a question for which my heart has no answer. "I am not now that which I have been." |
