to those of us who understood those tests we passed in time the endless march through the woods or through the muck and grime we wore a simply uniform one that really did not fit one that would not keep you warm nor cool when the heat hit we learned to kill for country how to take anothers life how to defeat an unseen enemy in the dark of the night I went on to be an engineer the kind the builds and destroys I learned how to use demolitions and how to build homes I trained others about mines those little *******s in the ground how to find them carefully and then how to blow them up We carried your flag for you and then came home to this a life a little boring considering where we had been We carried your flag for you you praised us for a day then turned around to get rid of us like guard dogs on parade We carried your flag for you but would have rather stayed at home for when you cannot handle things you always send us along We carried our dead for you and never heard you weep next time think before sending us out for they never really sleep. |

Yes you are right, your country turned his back on you after you did as they requested. The promise given to our soldiers each day is being taken away. To you I send my deepest appreciation for all you did. |

This really makes one stop and think. Being Canadian, we don't have such issues as you guys deal with. But I would hope that it would not stop us from appreciating people such as yourself for what you have sacrificed. This is a wonderful piece Michael. Marina It is a blessing to have wings for words, and passion in pen |

Yes we did ... except it was OUR flag ... our and theirs. Live for love. Without love, you don't live. |

Thank you for this, Michael. Some of us do remember, and thank you again for all that you, and yours, have done. |
