Edge of Night

Dreams of passion, edge of night
Take me on a swirling flight
Through imagination’s world
On wings of words that come unfurled

Let the lantern of delight
Shine upon my page of white
Twirl my pen in ink of gold
That conjures tales yet to be told

Twinkling stars will grace the page
Waters from the seas will rage
In the lamplight love will creep
Upon the page before I sleep

Fingers glide at thoughtful pace
As midnight flame still warms my face
And mind’s illusions fill my pen
Unleashing thoughts of love again

A thousand tears my eyes have cried
A thousand dreams have been denied
The page grows dark, the wick is worn
And in the night a poem is born

I loved that last stanza, that was so cool!
And in the night, a poem is born...I wish I had written that. Great poem all the way through.

Thank you all for your kind comments. It's getting late but tonight I'm too sleepy to write. No poem will be born tonight.
You are all the inspiration.THank you

Well wasn't that the picture of perfection?  No poem tonight, hmmm, is that not inspiration for a poem?

Beautiful and flowing words Liz ... it created a perfect picture in my mind of you miles and miles away, writing by candle light deep into the night. Wonderful writing.

Best wishes,
