A young man is sentenced
To die for a crime
But to die a tranquil death
Along with doing time

Why is it we let him die?
With such a peaceful tone?
He hurt the one that he killed
Yet mercy he is shown

This world doesn't make sense
I’m not sure I understand
Why we make it easy
For the criminals at hand

I know God is the final judge
He'll take care of this for sure
Sometimes it makes my heart bleed
Just living in this world

I cry for the little girl
Whom this man did harm
Also for the mother
She needs God’s loving arm

I get down on my knees
And pray for my hatefulness
'Dear Lord, please help me
Remember my faithfulness'

'To find forgiveness
For the man she trusted
Please help us lord
I feel disgusted'

'It's not our judgement
You hold it all
Please Lord be with them
Our judgement's so small'

I agree that there is much beyond our understanding. And I certainly have no answers here...wishing you peace tho.

Yes, forgiving is a very hard thing to do...but like you said, let God do the judging.  Very nice poem.  Jeremy

Nice poem, there is a lot we don't understand.  Just keep trusting in God and let Him take care of everything.

it makes me so mad i could spit..this sounds like a child molestation..and that makes my skin crawl....

if something like that happened to my child, they'd have to jail ME so I wouldnt kill the devil who touched her!

sorry..this is written very well..and good of you to kneel and pray for forgiveness for your anger..

i have to live by the phrase, "everything happens for a reason"..we dont always know the reasons, but just to know there was one...makes it a little easier for me...i'll ask the questions one day..one day when we can see all the innocent ones again..

hugs, g

nicely written and a topic that is hard to talk about without getting emotional... why let them off easy... I have often thought that.. perhaps an eye for an eye is more my way of thinking.

I'm sure many of us share this feeling ...

I'm not one to sympathize with the perpetrators of such horrendous crime~

Let their heads fall~
God can have their souls ... to do with as He sees fit !

Well-penned struggle with your feelings, my friend.

Dgvarner,
I dont want to make your skin crawl anymore but this poem was on a case that happened here and I heard the verdict last night on the news...A man set his 2 yr old daughter on fire and let her die....That's why I dont understand why he should get to just "go to sleep"...God will be the judge...Thanks for reading

There are some cases when I definately agree, an eye for an eye....this is one of them, but then we have to remember that we are not the judges of anyone elses fate....
Thanks for reading

Marge,
Thank you...It is sometimes really hard to see certain things happen in this world...that's usually when I turn to writing...I call it my confessions on paper...I do believe that God takes care of all and will help this too...thanks for reading..
