Our Cabin (part-i) |

In the mountains, in a forest, near a giant waterfall, Where the grass is soft and supple and the redwoods very tall We found ourselves together, in a cabin, in these woods... No explanation needed, for the mood was understood... The fresh air waifted through the open window in the room While the fireplace was crackling, adding to the sweet perfume... Our fettuccini dinner blending nicely in the air, We spoke of things that came to mind, upon a rug of bear... The hardwood floors reflecting dancing flames of amber light Made for a pleasant image as I bid you goodnight... The next evening I found myself inside our cabin, bare... But I made some tira misu with the thought you might be there... Since I had our cabin to myself, for a short while, I thought a llama-skin would bring from you a bigger smile... So I switched the rugs and waited for you, but to my surprise, I'd have to wait another night to look into your eyes... On the third night we ate strawberries with the left over dessert Then we put on some Depeche Mode and strolled barefoot on the dirt To a patch of grass, where we danced, by moonlight's waterflow While my cologne drove you crazy, as you'd later let me know... The fading song inspired us to rest upon the grass And the stars above reflected like a shiny plate of glass... I pointed out to you the three stars in Orion's belt Which had some profound meaning, or so the Egyptians felt... We started to get chilly and we knew that it was late, So I wrapped my shirt around you and we picked up our gait... As we walked back to our cabin, we could see through the front door Our llama-skin rug beckoning us to get cozy on the floor... You fell asleep in my arms with the fireplace burning bright And the scent of your perfume assured me deep sleep through the night... In the middle of the night you awoke, unbeknownst to me... To leave a trail of clothing I would follow, just to see What inspiration had beguiled you to draw a bath so late... Perhaps it could not be avoided... perhaps it was just fate... And as your scent seduced me towards your single candlelight, My heart beat that much faster when I held you in my sight... Very well written and romantic, Mark. There's a magic in having someone special in your life. Even if it's only for a short time. |

Yes Mark, a romantic tour de force I must say. You obviously know the things that endear you to a woman, starlight, redwoods, privacy,(nice cologne). Sounds wonderful. This is a very lucky woman. I hope she did not let you down, too. Sandra PS I got lost in the romantic imagery, and forgot to comment on the actual poem It's fantastic. |

Shadow874, thanks for reading and posting. Indeed, there is something very special in what you say. This is why it's so important to truly savour the moment as it happens. Hi, Betty. Part-II will be up shortly. Thanks for the read and reply. Well, Elise... this cabin is actually in the mindscape of my imagination... simply an inspired fantasy, if you will. Glad you enjoyed. Thanks, Ron. There's more to tell in PART-II, arriving this morning... Sandra, thank you for your thoughts. Since this one was an imaginary encounter, I can't say that I was let down. I let my romantic core run away with this poem and its second half... -MVS "If you think you know it all, you have a lot to learn." |
