Parking Lot To Paradise When you get caught in Honolulu traffic it's not exactly fun in the sun. For awhile everythings fine you're on the go until the next thing you know for no explanable reason the traffic starts to move real slow. Suddenly you feel like a crowded surfer with no waves to ride awash in a sea of cars about to collide. And you find yourself thinking something like "who gave all these people all of these cars." You know Hawaii doesn't have a General Motors or a Henry Ford and I thought the locals traveled by outrigger canoe and rode on surf boards. So the traffic gets slower and slower and that's when you discover the freeway is surounded by weed wackers and grass blowers. They all add to the noise and the confusion while you get upset cause your cars barely moving. At the same time your car creeps to a stop you're so pissed off you yell at a cop. He smiles and gives you the shaka sign. Says "Brah it will get more better just give it time." "That a big Aloha bruddah because time in paradise seems to be all I got because this here H-1 freeway has just been turned into another parking lot." Now, your writing gave me a whole new perspective on paradise..... interesting to read it from a local.... all this time I thought it was just groves of pineapple and fields of sugar cane. Very informative. |
