![]() One day I flew to the States to get married to my love He had been there for some time but for me it was all new First I went to Canada after six months joined my friend We searched for a place to live and got a room with a view His brother lived in Reading Pensylvania that is He married early sixties and got citizenship and all His wife was a born States girl a creative little thing Did like a drop of wine though Happy Hour daily ball From Mom I got some fabric for a weddingdress to make My parents could not joine us took too much money you know And so we got us a justice of the peace you understand For we were not religious so to church we did not go I send for all the papers that people had asked me for Filled the forms at City Hall avoiding things going wrong He bought me lovely flowers a little bouquet of pink To the hairdresser I went for my hair was way too long So on October the fourth the day of our wedding Off we went to Rockvilltown in a little racingcar There we met the family of little creative wife They were coming from Princeton a long drive so really far I was stopped from going in for few things had to be done I had to take my shoes off and put dimes under my heel Otherwise I wouldn't have luck in my married life that is And so I did to please them thinking back I still do feel A garther of antique lace was to be the something old The dress I had made myself was to be the something new The gloves I had to put on they were the something borrowed Ribbon woven in my hair through did shine the something blue This happened on the sidewalk for everybody to see When they put the garther on I did hear a clapping hand Couldn't see who did it though probably some lonely guy There I was all garnished up and in City Hall we went Inside they asked a paper wich was not mentioned before Without we could not marry so it frightened me to hell But the lady said oké I'll do the typing myself After few minutes waiting formalities cleared up well And that's how I got married in Rockville United States The office Henk was working gave us pans and pots to cook We had a real nice party in a basement with some friends And I am ever gratefull and feeling joy when back I look A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess... |
