On This Side

I think that I've been everywhere that one can possibly be
And, time gave me a friend within the rain
For hours took my heart and months smiled back at me
Finally years buried tears so I could rise once again...

On this side of happiness I found the golden sea
Never taking for granted the auburn sands laid out for me
I treasured every step I was able to make it through
On this side of happiness, my friend, I walked it all with you...

I found freedom like no other when days found us together
Even if it were our souls that led the way
With all my heart I followed behind, forgiving storms that I did find
Just so I could view your beauty along the way...

On this side of kind is where I found to lay my head
And, so effortlessly I'd sleep within each word you've said
I held onto purity in it's brightest shade of white
On this side of kind, my friend, I now glisten at night...

One wouldn't believe the way that nature sure sings to me
How I was blessed to learn to read the wind, my friend
I know just the understanding when it moves across my face
Leaving comfort with each gust that God decides to send...

On this side of believing I found peace in each new dawn
How it feels to wake in pastel light to start the day along
For glimpse of you begin when the morning birds they sing
On this side of believing, I found natures bell will rise and ring...

It is only a journey that few can accept to choose
I give thanks I chanced the bridge of faith
For across the other side I touched love passing by
Now eternity found us both on the same side of grace...

On this side of missing you I found all the places we've been
Praying that our dreams will make it possible to see you again
I breathe hope that nature sings from me your whole life through
And, that on this side of missing you, you are missing me, too...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

wow Saunni, you always manage to pour yourself into every word. . . and that's why I like what you write. . .

wonderful. . .

This feels perfectly exposed in its concealment -- or perfectly concealed in its exposure...  cryptic; yet self-evident...  not easily succumbing to definition...  a very stimulating write and evocative in its provocation...  like eyes slowly coming into focus upon daylight's entry...

Excellent writing with a flowing style that mimics ice skaters during a waltz. Perfecto!
