QUIET
  -  Poets At Play
~*Marge Tindal*~

While sitting in the library
I'll admit I was a bit chagrined
to gaze upon that sign
QUIET
screaming silently from within

I paused to smile in thinking
with all those poets on the shelves at night
This place must really ROCK
when they turn out the lights !

Throwing back their covers
leafing pages all about
Words - words - words
in gay abandon shout

All the poets come to life
reciting until dawn
Ignoring QUIET in voices loud
as they poetically 'get it on'

Keats and Shelley
Shakespeare and Poe
Browning and Byron
on and on they go

Making merry of the night
Words in dalliance of play
Until the key turns in the lock
Shhhhh !
Back between the covers
for another QUIET day

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

What a delight! *S* I'd love to join their party... unless, of course, I have to write incredible poetry and die first. LOL. This is great, Marge!

But to be a spider on the wall
listening to the quiet of words fall
from the lips of which they came
then torn apart, to be reframed
this is how a spider feels
when the poets minds doth wheel....

oops!  YOU made me sing....

shhhh....quiet.....

Very clever, Marge! Hey, I work in the library now, in the executive office...it's not as quiet as the main library but I do love being in such close proximity to all those classics! I think I will print this out and take it to work. They'll all get a kick out of it!

Well ... as long as they 'get a kick out of it'

I'd love to go to the library with you.
