Triangle Park

A little patch in the midst of a city
twenty years ago
I’d sit on that metal circle
one foot in the gravel
pushing myself backward around
slowly
watch the traffic go by
the heads dozing on benches
still
as if already dead
but mostly I just circled
back resting on a metal bar
cigarette in hand
lazily absorbing the day
with youthful abstract dreams of love
writing words in my head

I sit here tonight
twenty years later
hugging the memory of that kid

JLR
I think there are times for all of us that would like to go back to being a kid!
I really enjoyed reading that thanks

Just precious, JLR.  I have been there too.  It's a lovely place, yet never quite the same as it used to be, huh?  Great write!

When you're little, you want to be big. And when you're big you wish you were little. Very cool poem

reflection, nostalgia, we go there and find peace, often, I hope it makes us grow as a person, too
