The Lights of Independence Day I see the lights flash in the sky And wonder what to think I'm grateful to live in the land I do Where there's plenty of water to drink The lights get brighter the boom gets louder We all cheer in happiness But I just can’t help think of people in other lands And little girls who aren't even dressed I close my eyes and say a prayer For the other lands around us And thank God for peace and tranquility here I’m kinda glad we make such a fuss I open my eyes and can see the smoke Of the left over fireworks fly And look around at the land below My feet are just feeling so high! Thank you God for this wonderful land You have given to us so we could be And thanks to the soldiers who fought for us And made it so we could be free. Wonderfully written, Cindi. You know, I went to the fireworks here last night and there was an outdoor concert beforehand. While the band played all the usual patriotic tunes, I was thinking along these same lines. How very blessed we are to live in a free and prosperous land as we do. The fireworks display was dazzling this year. I couldn't help but think of all those children in other countries who've never even seen one colorful explosion in the sky, but have seen many real explosions. It's frightening to think of. Sorry for the rambling. Much enjoyed this one! All writing comes |

Lone wolf Im so glad you got to see some wonderful fireworks...ours here are not really that spectacular anymore...living in Phoenix, it gets a little hot and dry so we have fire dangers...but what we did see were really nice...We got hit by a storm the night before when they were to have the big fireworks display at the lake...we just got alot of rain instead...but the kids liked it! Anyway...thanks and have a good day Hugs Cindi God is our inspiration; Words of the heart can be music to our ears |
