standing on a shadow's lace

Maze of Black

in dark my eyes
don't adjust well
what's down the hallway
I can't tell
stumbling on obstacles
in my way
can't find my path
so I stray
some walls are narrow
some are wide
no light to focus
lost my guide
in my panic
I run as I go
bang into something
another blow
this maze has no sense
of connection
turned around I've lost
all my direction
straining and squinting
in this black
fumbling to get myself
back on track
what is that I see
up ahead
a tiny flicker of light
has spread

you have taken the common place and woven it into a parable... nicely done...

No lighted lantern
to hold in hand
as we journey
through the
darkened maze
of change

Stumbling always
we feel with
finger tips
along walls
mapping our
progress
